ABOUT TOMMY
If there were a way to describe Tommy Fleming's voice, it would have to be said he is a powerful operatic bell canto tenor, capable of dynamic crescendos. He sings heartbroken ballads and traditional and contemporary classics. A native of County Sligo, this flame haired entertainer with his angelic voice is one of the finest musical entertainers to emerge out of Ireland. When asked about his genre of music he admits it's not opera, it's not rock 'n' roll, "In fact, I'm not really traditional, I'm just a singer who loves a song with a good story."
After leaving school in 1990, Tommy started to establish himself singing in pubs and clubs around the country, regularly packing in the fans wherever he performed. Despite his success in various venues during the 1990's, recording companies weren't that interested in his work. Then a chance encounter with renowned producer and composer Phil Coulter changed all that. Four months later he was touring America, playing to huge audiences all across the U.S., culminating in two shows at the legendary Carnegie Hall.
Since then Tommy Fleming's career has been in full swing, releasing numbers of chart-topping albums and hit singles. Voice Of Hope was the first Tommy Fleming album released in North America. The concert was taped in 2004 at the world famous Knock Basilica, and is one of the largest events ever undertaken by Tommy. The concert premiered in August 2005 on Public Television stations nationwide.
